Golf in France
Our French Golf Holiday Regions
Pas de Calais Region - A French golf holiday region that is close to the UK but still a complete contrast to golf breaks at home. It covers a radius of less than 1 hour from the Eurotunnel terminal in Calais and here you can find great golf courses at Arras, Hardelot, Belle Dune, Wimereux, Dunkirk or St Omer.
Le Touquet - A French golf holiday destination that is very popular with UK golfers. Le Touquet is a resort that attracts thousands of golfers each year. Simple and convenient golf breaks that keep the cost down to a level that will not alarm your bank manager.
Normandy - As the golf courses the Pas de Calais region become more popular, you must book well in advance for reasonable tee times. Here is the antidote; an ideal location for a golf holiday in France. The Golf around Caen, Deauville, Dieppe & Rouen is about as good as it gets.
Picardy - The Picardy & Isle de France region is a one of the great and as yet truly undiscovered French golf holiday and golf short break regions. If you are prepared to travel just that little bit further into France, say an extra hour, an abundance of fine hotels, chateaux and splendid golf courses await.
Aquitaine - A region is more renowned for its Chateaux and vineyards. However, golf tourism here is booming because the golf around Biarritz and Bordeaux is stunning and there are also fine hotels in Seignosse and Arcachon. A terrific destination for a golf holiday in France.
 Free Wine!!
France is famous for many things; notably wine, chateaux, gastronomy and romance. As yet it is not internationally famous for golf holidays. Curious, given the close proximity to the UK and the fact that France has more golf courses in the European top 50 than any other country plus many others that we rank very highly. Yet in terms of golf course usage, France’s splendid golf venues are confined to a few keen locals together with the “Brits” who have discovered its treasures.

Just why golfers are not heading across the Channel in droves to play the many, many fine golf courses that are right on our doorstep remains a mystery. It is certainly not a price issue. A Golf Holiday in Northern France is great value and there is plenty to see and do in between rounds of golf.
There are exceptions to the rule of course; the excellent golf resorts around Le Touquet , Hardelot, Wimereux and St Omer notably Golf Hardelot, Golf Le Touquet and Golf Belle Dune in the Pas de Calais region are played by thousands of “Brits” every year to the point that you now have to book well in advance and be prepared to accept alternative tee times to those you originally requested, such is the high level of demand. However the general rule remains that, even though there is an abundance of other equally fine golf courses in Northern France, they do not attract British golfers in significant numbers despite the fact many are only a couple of hours drive from Calais and are able to confirm your preferred tee times relatively easily. If you are prepared to be a little more adventurous you can drive an additional hour into Picardy or Normandy Here are golf holiday regions blessed with superb, imposing chateaux, fine hotels, excellent restaurants and great nightlife. They are also home to some of the best golf courses in Europe.
The northern regions of France comes into their own as golf short break destinations in the Spring and Autumn; a couple of nights during April to October when southern Europe can get just a little too hot to be comfortable on the golf course. Some memorable rounds of golf have taken place on super French courses where the temperature is ideal for golf. Very pleasant! Add to this the fact that here are places of supreme architectural splendour, an abundance of history and great cuisine and you really have little reason to go elsewhere.
Biarritz and Bordeaux (The Aquitaine region) in the South Western corner of France on the other hand, is famed more for it's wines and for the glamour of Biarritz than it is for its golf. We are sure this about to change because the golf here is World Class. If you haven't yet played golf at Seignosse, Chantaco, Moliets et al, we urge you to visit them soon - these courses and the many other golf venues in this region really are that good. And the nightlife? Splendid.
As golfers ourselves, we will be able find a golf holiday in France that suits your expectations and your budget because we know the golf courses and the hotels.
