Golf
Hawkstone Park is an English Heritage Grade I landscape and was recently voted one of the top 20 golf holiday destinations in the world. The two 18 hole golf courses are first class - designed in extensive parkland surrounding the ruins of a medieval castle, with the cliffs of the world-famous 18th Century Follies providing a spectacular backdrop.
Hawkstone Course
The Hawkstone course which was opened in 1920 and built around the 12th Century Redcastle, is set amidst some of the most outstanding landscape in England. It is a traditional parkland design with tree lined fairways that contribute to its spectacular views. It is a golf course that has remained largely unchanged for over 60 years and is a delight to play.
Championship Course
Brian Hugget, the former Ryder Cup Captain designed this course and blended the Shropshire countryside into a creation that will test even the very golfer. This course has many Americanisms including oval tees, fairways with mounds, and greens that are large and gently undulating.
The tremendous landscape is ideal for these two golf courses - the former home course of Sandy Lyle.
