Sam Torrance won the Portuguese Golf Open at Golf Troia. That's the good news. The bad news is that his winning score was only two under par, which gives you some indication of the rest of the scores. If Europe's finest struggled here, what can be said for mere mortals? The fact is Golf Troia is not so tough from the more advanced tee placements and if the wind is in abeyance, a reasonable score can be posted.
In short, it is splendid links style golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones who said he would include the 3rd as one of the 18 holes on his imaginary "ideal course." Getting there requires a 20 minute ferry crossing from Setabul from which you should allow a further twenty minutes waiting time. For this reason we thoroughly recommend you play this course but make a day of it when taking a longer break. Why not take an early lunch in the very pleasant port of Setabul followed by an afternoon's golf?
