Golf Aroeira - One word sums up these two golf courses; outstanding! Without question one of the best golf venues in Europe. Aroeira I was host to the Portuguese Open Golf in 1996 and 1997 as well being a venue for the Ladies Qualifying school. It has just about everything; tree lined fairways, dogleg holes, water and sand.
Aoreira II is another outstanding golf course that opened in 2000 and designed by Donald Steel with Championship events in mind. In fact many prefer it to Aroeira I. It has five tee placements per hole meaning it can be played by golfers of all levels without the higher handicappers finding it too demanding. Like its sister golf course, good scores can only be posted if one avoids the trees that line most of the fairways.
Many have compared these golf courses to those at Wentworth. Justifiable praise indeed.
