How to avoid the hidden cost of a golf holiday

If there is one thing that gets on our nerves as golfers who like to play courses across the globe is the hidden charge for carriage of golf clubs that you only discover once you are well into making the booking! It just adds a hefty last minute cost to the price of a golf holiday 

You find cheap flights with a low cost airline and then get lumbered with this extra charge. It rankles us and when we hear that Ryanair are now charging around £100 return for club carriage on some routes it rankles us even more.

Golf Holiday with or without Car Rental?

As seasoned golf travellers who regularly hire cars on arrival in Spain or Portugal, there is one thing that really rankles us.

It is car rental companies that provide a full tank of fuel, charge you for it at the rental desk and then tell you that you can return the car empty. Nobody risks running out of petrol on the last day back to the airport so what do you do? You put in some fuel of course.

Sucha bitter taste when the fuel gauge registers ‘half full’ when you return the vehicle - you’ve paid for a load of fuel you haven’t used and leave with the feeling you’ve been ‘had’!
