Intercontinental Aphrodite Hills - Cyprus

Wednesday, 2 May 2012 10:30:50 Europe/London

Sarah and I went to Aphrodite Hills for a long weekend on 20th April to gain wider knowledge of the resort. It was a wonderful experience. We were greeted by the friendly staff and taken up to our luxurious rooms in the Intercontinental Hotel – I have to say I was impressed, the pictures online to not do the rooms enough justice! We stayed in golf & sea view rooms and the views were gorgeous... Read More

To the Golfer.....

Thursday, 8 March 2012 09:35:21 Europe/London

To The Golfer.....

In my hand I hold a ball,
White and dimpled, rather small
Oh, how bland it does appear,
This harmless looking little sphere.

By its size I could not guess
The awesome strength it does possess;
But since I fell beneath its spell
I've wandered through the fires of Hell.

How to avoid the hidden cost of a golf holiday

Tuesday, 6 March 2012 12:17:15 Europe/London

If there is one thing that gets on our nerves as golfers who like to play courses across the globe is the hidden charge for carriage of golf clubs that you only discover once you are well into making the booking! It just adds a hefty last minute cost to the price of a golf holiday

You find cheap flights with a low cost airline and then get lumbered with this extra charge. It rankles us and when we hear that Ryanair are now charging around £100 return for club carriage on some routes it rankles us even more.

Golf Holiday with or without Car Rental?

Wednesday, 22 February 2012 16:20:48 Europe/London

As seasoned golf travellers who regularly hire cars on arrival in Spain or Portugal, there is one thing that really rankles us.

It is car rental companies that provide a full tank of fuel, charge you for it at the rental desk and then tell you that you can return the car empty. Nobody risks running out of petrol on the last day back to the airport so what do you do? You put in some fuel of course.

Sucha bitter taste when the fuel gauge registers ‘half full’ when you return the vehicle - you’ve paid for a load of fuel you haven’t used and leave with the feeling you’ve been ‘had’!

Tiger Woods will tee off with Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald at 3:05 a.m. EST. The 14-time major winner opened his 2012 season with a solid first round Thursday at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, shooting a 2-under 70 that left him three strokes behind co-leader Rory McIlroy, his playing partner. "Hit the ball well all day today. It was a good ball-striking round," Woods said. "I had a hard time reading the greens out there. The greens were pretty grainy and I just had a hard time getting a feel for it. Toward the end I hit some pretty good putts but overall I got fooled a lot on my reads." Read More
